How to Choose the Best SEO Company in Pakistan: 12 Questions to Ask Before You Hire

Business owner in Pakistan reviewing an SEO company proposal with a checklist

Choosing an SEO company in Pakistan comes down to five checks: real proof of results, a clear plan for the first three months, honest monthly reporting, your ownership of every account, and fair contract terms. Price matters, but it should be the last thing you compare, not the first. And if anyone guarantees you the #1 spot on Google, walk away.

This guide is for business owners in Lahore and across Pakistan who are about to hire an SEO agency or freelancer and want to avoid paying for months of work that goes nowhere. It gives you the questions to ask, what a good answer sounds like, and the warning signs to watch for.

Quick Checklist: Choosing an SEO Company in Pakistan

Before you sign with anyone, make sure you can tick most of these:

  • They showed you results for a business similar to yours, with proof you can check.
  • They explained what they will do in the first 90 days, in plain language.
  • Their keyword ideas match what your customers actually search for.
  • You saw a sample monthly report and understood it.
  • You know who will do the work and who your contact person is.
  • They explained how they get backlinks, and it isn’t “500 links for PKR 5,000”.
  • They covered local SEO and your Google Business Profile, if you serve a city or area.
  • Your website, Google Business Profile, Google Analytics and Search Console stay in your name.
  • The contract has a clear minimum term and a clear way out.
  • Nobody promised you guaranteed rankings or a fixed number of leads.
  • The proposal lists monthly deliverables, not just “SEO”.

Before You Talk to Anyone: Know What You Need

Many bad SEO hires start with a vague goal. “I want to rank on Google” can mean very different jobs, so decide three things first.

Where are your customers? A clinic in DHA or a restaurant in Gulberg needs local SEO: showing up on Google Maps and for “near me” searches. An online store that ships across Pakistan needs national SEO. A business selling to the UK or US needs international SEO. Each one is a different amount of work.

What counts as a result for you? Phone calls, WhatsApp messages, form enquiries or online sales. Rankings and traffic only matter if they lead to one of these.

What can you spend every month, for at least six months? SEO is slow. If you can only afford one or two months, paid ads may be a better start. If you want a feel for typical budgets, see our guide to what SEO costs in Pakistan.

Write these three answers down. You will use them to judge every company you speak to.

12 Questions to Ask an SEO Company

Ask every company the same questions so you can compare their answers fairly. The answers matter, but so does how they answer: clear and specific, or vague and salesy.

1. Can you show results for a business like mine?

A good answer: examples from a similar industry or market, with something you can check yourself: a Google Search Console screenshot showing clicks over time, a live search where their client appears, or a client you can call.

Warning sign: only screenshots of “Domain Authority” scores, traffic graphs with no dates, or “our clients are confidential” with nothing else to show.

2. What will you do in the first 90 days?

A good answer: a step-by-step plan. For example: a technical audit and fixes in month one, keyword research and on-page work on your key pages in month two, content and local listings in month three.

Warning sign: “We’ll start working on your rankings” with no detail.

3. How do you choose keywords for my business?

A good answer: they ask about your services, your customers and your area, then show keywords with search volume and explain why each one fits. They should favour searches from buyers, like “AC repair in Johar Town”, over broad terms with no buying intent.

Warning sign: they promise to rank you for a huge keyword like “best doctor” without asking anything about your business.

4. What does your monthly report include?

A good answer: a sample report that shows the work done that month, rankings for your agreed keywords, organic traffic, calls and enquiries from search where they can be tracked, and the plan for next month.

Warning sign: a report that is only a list of backlinks, or no report at all.

5. Who will actually do the work?

A good answer: they tell you who handles your account and whether any part of the work is outsourced.

Warning sign: a senior person sells you the plan, then your account disappears into a team you never hear from.

6. How do you build links?

A good answer: links earned through real business listings, relevant Pakistani directories, partnerships, guest articles on genuine websites and content people want to reference. Fewer, better links.

Warning sign: bulk link packages, “PBN” networks, or a fixed number of links every month regardless of quality. These can get a website penalised, and cleaning that up costs more than the original package.

7. Will you handle local SEO and my Google Business Profile?

A good answer: if you serve a city or area, they treat your Google Business Profile as a priority: correct categories, services, photos, regular posts, and a plan to get genuine reviews from real customers.

Warning sign: they offer to “add reviews” for you or ignore Google Maps completely. Fake or paid reviews break Google’s rules and can get your profile suspended.

8. Do I keep ownership of my website, Google Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console?

A good answer: “Yes, everything stays in your name. We work through access you give us.”

Warning sign: they create your Google Business Profile or Analytics under their own account. If you stop working together, you may lose years of data or even your Maps listing.

9. What is the minimum contract, and how do I exit?

A good answer: a clear minimum period, the notice you need to give, and what you get when you leave: reports, logins handed back, content they created for you.

Warning sign: a long lock-in with heavy penalties, or no written agreement at all.

10. Do you guarantee rankings?

The right answer is no. Google’s own guide to hiring an SEO says that no one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google. A good company will tell you what it expects to improve and how it will measure progress, without promising positions.

Warning sign: “Page 1 in 30 days, guaranteed”, or “money back if you don’t rank”.

11. How will you work with my website?

A good answer: they ask what your site runs on (WordPress, Shopify or a custom build), explain what access they need, and tell you which changes they will make themselves and which need your developer.

Warning sign: they ask for full admin access on day one without explaining why, or they say your site needs a complete rebuild before they have even audited it.

12. What do you need from me?

A good answer: a short list. Access to your accounts, answers about your services and customers, approval of content, and someone to reply to enquiries quickly.

Warning sign: “Nothing, just leave it to us.” Good SEO needs some input from you, because you know your business best.

Red Flags When Hiring SEO in Pakistan

Warning signs to watch for when hiring an SEO company in Pakistan
Red flagWhy it’s a problem
“Guaranteed page 1” or “guaranteed #1”No one controls Google’s rankings. Google says so itself.
Very cheap monthly packages with “500 backlinks”Bulk links are usually spam and can harm your site.
They create your Google accounts in their own nameYou may lose your data or listing if you part ways.
Offer to post reviews for youFake reviews break Google’s policy and risk suspension.
No sample report, or reports you can’t understandYou’ll have no way to tell if the work is happening.
Pressure to sign today for a “special price”A good provider is happy for you to compare options.
They can’t explain their own work simplyIf they can’t explain it, they may not be doing it.
Their own website is slow, broken or hard to findThey should be able to do for themselves what they sell to you.

Freelancer vs Agency: Which Fits You?

Both can do good work. The choice usually depends on the size of the job.

A freelancer can suit a single-location business with a small website and a short keyword list. You often deal directly with the person doing the work. The risk is capacity: if they are ill, busy or move on, your SEO stops.

An agency suits work that needs several skills at once: technical fixes, content, local SEO and reporting. You get more continuity, but make sure you know who your contact is.

Price ranges for both overlap a lot in Pakistan, so compare the scope of work, not the label. Our SEO cost guide covers typical monthly prices for each.

How to Check an SEO Company’s Claims Yourself

You don’t have to take anyone’s word for it. Spend 15 minutes on these checks:

  1. Search for them on Google. Look up their brand name and the city they serve. A company selling SEO should be easy to find.
  2. Check their Google Business Profile. Read the reviews, not just the star rating. Real reviews mention specific work and names. Twenty five-star reviews posted in the same week, all saying “great service”, are a warning sign.
  3. Look them up on Clutch, GoodFirms or DesignRush. Clutch verifies many of its reviews by speaking with the client, which makes them harder to fake.
  4. Ask to speak to one current client. A confident company will usually arrange this.
  5. Look at their own website. Is it fast on mobile? Does it explain its services clearly? Does it publish useful content?

What a Good SEO Proposal Should Contain

Before you pay anything, ask for a written proposal. It should include:

  • Your goals, in your words: calls, leads or sales, and the area you serve.
  • Scope: which pages, which locations, local or national.
  • Monthly deliverables: for example, technical fixes, a number of optimised pages, content pieces, Google Business Profile posts, listings.
  • Timeline: what happens in months one, two and three.
  • Reporting: what you will receive, how often, and a sample.
  • Price and payment terms, including anything not covered.
  • Contract terms: minimum period, notice period and what is handed over if you leave.
  • Account ownership: a clear statement that your accounts stay in your name.

If a proposal is one line saying “Monthly SEO: PKR X”, ask for the detail. If they can’t provide it, keep looking.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if an SEO company in Pakistan is genuine?

Ask for proof you can check yourself, such as Search Console data or a client you can speak to, read their reviews on Google and Clutch, and see whether they rank for their own services. A genuine company answers questions clearly and never guarantees rankings.

How long should I give an SEO company before judging results?

Give it at least three months to see early signs, such as fixed technical issues, more pages indexed and rising impressions in Search Console. Meaningful growth in traffic and enquiries usually takes four to six months or longer, depending on your competition. You should still see clear monthly reports of work done from the first month.

Is it better to hire an SEO freelancer or an agency in Pakistan?

A freelancer can work well for a small, single-location business with a limited budget. An agency is usually better when you need technical work, content, local SEO and reporting together. Compare what each one will deliver every month, not just the price.

Should an SEO company ask for access to my website and Google accounts?

Yes. To do the work they will usually need access to your website and to your Google Search Console, Analytics and Business Profile. Give them access as a user on accounts that stay in your name. Don’t let them create those accounts for you under their own email.

Can an SEO company guarantee first-page rankings?

No. Google’s own guidance says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking. A company that promises guaranteed positions is either misleading you or planning to use methods that can get your site penalised.

What should a monthly SEO report include?

The work completed that month, rankings for your agreed keywords, organic traffic, enquiries or sales from search where they can be tracked, any issues found, and the plan for next month. You should be able to understand it without a meeting.
